EB writing...
From the emails we've received, looks like the blogging took hold.
Made no appreciable progress in crossing items off my "trip" to do list today. Not home from work till shortly after 7pm.
Also a quick trip to buy a pair of shoes turned out useless. Guess I'll go with what I have -- or buy a pair (or maybe just one) in Europe if needed.
All that hard work readying the house for HGTV filming seems a little pointless now. The place is sliding toward disarray again. There are stacks of clothes waiting to go in the luggage and "stuff" that has been moved from the usual location to neatly organized bins -- though only after they were "listed properly." (All my fellow OCD -- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder -- friends.....I know you can relate to the list thing.
Off to bed now.....1.5 workdays to go.....
LWJ writing now.....
T-minus 3 days and counting. Had my last court appearance today. The folks in Juvenile Court were jealous; I'm not sure if it's because of the upcoming trip or the fact that I don't have to go back in there for three weeks! Either way, it's a welcome break.
After court, I took the opportunity to go buy a few "essentials" that we needed. BIG MISTAKE. Old Navy will just suck you in if you're anywhere near the shopping center. At least their cover charge isn't as big as the one at Sam's Club.
Sam's Club being the next essential location (well, after Target). Yes, we really DID need 16 chapsticks before the trip. He keeps his nasty little addiction quiet, but those in the know recognize the signs.
It has been hotter than you can possibly imagine out there today. OK, it's only 94 on the thermometer, and in Oklahoma degrees that's really not all that bad, but when you combine enough humidity to make you have to wring out your shorts after a trip from the house to the car, it's a recipe to make a person stay in the house. Only compassion for the poor droopy little plants compelled me to brave the weather and trickle a rivulet or two of water on them after the sun finally dropped below the horizon. Thank heavens for water timers. Turn 'em on, go to bed. That works for some of the beds and the grapevines at least. The pots, of course, have to be tended to individually.
The sign of a good friend is one that will come by and water your plants on vacation. We are blessed to have several people who have volunteered to take over that chore for us. Also, around the corner a house was broken into on Monday while the family was on vacation. That doesn't settle the nerves, but what the heck -- it's just stuff, it's insured, and we're so visible here that it's pretty unlikely that anyone would decide to come in. Besides, E is upstairs in his apartment and we've got a line of people set up to come by at different times of the day and check on things. That's about all anyone can do.
And on that note, it's bedtime. I've yet to make the transfer from Central to Eastern time, and as a result I'm continually out of sync with the rest of the community. 10:00 is a perfectly reasonable bedtime anyhow, especially if you're up by 5 most mornings.
Besides, we got stuff to do tomorrow!

P.S. Lots of you have answered us directly -- part of the fun of this is to see the comments from different folks that we know, so don't be afraid to put your comments out here, where everyone can make fun of you!
